‘Who moved my cheese’, is a story about ‘change’.  It takes place in a maze where four characters look for cheese. Cheese is there and they feel happy. They are so comfortable and relaxed that they don’t notice that cheese is becoming less and less as time goes by…until one day there is no cheese! And now what? What is their next step?

A couple’s relationship constitutes the core of life and maybe the most important factor for the normal development of children. It demands continuous effort, personal responsibility for the daily events in a couple’s life, self-awareness and commitment in order to have a partnership and get to enjoy a common journey through life.

We meet with people in many different contexts: at a friend’s house, at work, in a bar, in the University and so on. The process of choosing a partner- the ideal partner - is a very complex one and quite difficult to understand. However, there seems to exist some mechanisms that we use in order to choose the right one for us.

Men and women report different reactions to stress, both physically and mentally. They attempt to manage stress in very different ways and also perceive their ability to do so — and the obstacles that stand in their way — in markedly different ways. Findings suggest that while women are more likely to report physical symptoms associated with stress, they are doing a better job connecting with others in their lives.

Is immigration stress free? Nowadays, people migrate for many reasons, including broadly political, socioeconomic and educational. Individuals who migrate experience multiple stresses that can impact their mental well-being. Some of the stresses include the loss of cultural norms, religious customs, social support systems, cultural conflicts in the workplace. Indeed, studies have shown that the rates of mental illness are increased in some migrant groups. Mental health practitioners need to be attuned to and should be informed about the unique stresses and cultural aspects that affect immigrants, in order to best address the needs of this increasing and vulnerable population.
